Lawson United Methodist Church prepared this video to help spread the word about Baby Grace Ministries which was started by two young women in the Buckner UMC and which has now spread to nine other churches.

The purpose of the Baby Grace Ministry is to give young mothers the supplies, clothes and toys their newborns need to get off to a good start in life. The ministry also provides educational resources about parenting.

Mozambique

Called the Wizard of Oz for this amazing plays as short-stop for the St. Louis Cardinals, baseball’s Hall of Fame legend, Ozzie Smith went to bat for The Bridge.  Ozzie opened his downtown St. Louis restaurant to raise funds for Centenary United Methodist Church’s ministry with the homeless called the Bridge.

The Bridge provides a short-stop for food, community and support services to hundreds of St. Louis’s homeless every week.  Ozzie was baseball’s short-stop king so it was wonderful for him to lend his support to this ministry.

At the Bridge, they understand that being without a home of one’s own doesn’t mean that you no longer share the basic needs and desires of everyday life.  It just means that it’s harder to meet those needs. The Bridge is open 60 hours each week to provide meals and services that will help to ease the burdens of downtown St. Louis’ sojourners–and to provide the “step up” that will help them get started on their journey home.

Baby Grace Ministry was born at the Buckner United Methodist Church in response to the needs of young mothers of their community.  Through the ministry young parents receive parenting education as well as diapers, clothing, bedding, toys and books all donated by contributing members of the community.  Everything they received is bundled up with a lot of spiritual blessings and a great deal of love.  For more information go to www.bucknerumc.com.  To support the ministry send contributions to the Missouri United Methodist Conference Office, 3601 Amron Court, Columbia, MO  65202.  Baby Grace is a Conference Advance Special and is listed on the form sent to all church treasurers every month.

213. MissionCast – Community Heath Outreach Ministry – Ludhiana Christian Medical College and Hospital

The Ludhiana Christian Medical College in Ludhiana, India, has an extensive program of taking health care to village and urban areas around the city of Ludhiana. Eye camps and dental camps are held in rural areas a good distances from Ludhiana. Recently the Missouri Conference Ludhiana Mission Ambassadors tagged along with the nursing and medical students as they served in the community health program. Sue Cobb, member of Church of the Shepherd, in St. Charles, wrote the scripte and narrated this MissionCast. Pathways United Methodist Church in Springfield, Missouri provides housing to homeless women in their community. Sometimes they even manage to get one of their women in permanent housing.
