79. PETs at Rock Bridge Elementary School

girl on petRock Bridge Elementary School in Columbia, Missouri, undertook the project of giving another person mobility with the gift of a PET. (Personal Energy Transportation) They ended up raising money for more than one PET. They invited Mel West, the founder of the PET Project to their school to tell him what they had done and to give him the money for 10 PETs. KOMU-TV News was on the spot and their story was on the evening news. MissionCast received permission to share the news spot with you.

Sandra SipesThe Empowering Women Project is having a profound impact on the lives of women and families in the central Missouri I-44 corridor. Sandra Sipes, our Missouri Church and Community Worker, directs the project from her office in the Phillipsburg United Methodist Church. MissionCast interviewed Sandra at Phillipsburg to share the story of the fruitful ministry of the project. 75. CROP Walks To Fight Hunger

Crop Walk

Tens of thousands of people in communities across the U.S. will sacrifice a few hours (and a blister or two) to raise money and show solidarity with impoverished people struggling to become self-sufficient. The CROP Walkers’ motto: We walk because they walk!

CROP is the community hunger appeal of Church World Service. CROP Hunger Walks are unique in that proceeds benefit both domestic and international poverty-reducing efforts.
