293. MissionCast – Show Me Girls in Mission – Midstate District UMW

The Midstate District United Methodist Women’s “Show Me Girls” participated in a Volunteers in Mission project at the Midwest Mission Distribution Center, in Chatham, Illinois. The distribution center collects, processes and distributes kits and items needed for disaster relief across the country and around the world. In this MissionCast LaVonne Patterson tells of their experience and encourages others to serve at the MMDC as well. The Midstate UMW are sponsoring another mission like this the week after Easter in 2013. 275. MissionCast – Gardening in Joplin – Union UMC

Union United Methodist Church, in St. Louis, was one of many volunteers in mission teams serving in Joplin in May. They were assigned a gardening project at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. The church suffered a great deal of damage during the tornado. We are thankful to Union UMC for sharing these pictures and script for MissionCast #275. College students from across the state traveled to Joplin during their Christmas break to serve.  Around 150 students from Missouri were joined by 40 from Arkansas.  They tore down houses, nailed siding, hung drywall, dug foundations and painted.
