Last night your MissionCast crew attended the Lake Creek Campmeeting. It is the longest continuous running campmeeting west of the Mississippi. It started in 1943. This year celebrates the 170 anniversary of its continuing outreach to the community. It is registered as United Methodist Historic Site #276. The campground is located on 20 acres situated 15 miles SE of Sedalia, Missouri. This MissionCast is an update of our earlier Lake Creek Campmeeting MissionCast correcting some of the earlier inaccuracies.

(Search for any mission topic. Just type a key word into the search window. Search for “hunger”, “india”, “mozambique”, “environmnet”, “prison” ministry, etc.)
Baby Grace Ministry was born at the Buckner United Methodist Church in response to the needs of young mothers of their community. Through the ministry young parents receive parenting education as well as diapers, clothing, bedding, toys and books all donated by contributing members of the community. Everything they received is bundled up with a lot of spiritual blessings and a great deal of love. For more information go to www.bucknerumc.com. To support the ministry send contributions to the Missouri United Methodist Conference Office, 3601 Amron Court, Columbia, MO 65202. Baby Grace is a Conference Advance Special and is listed on the form sent to all church treasurers every month.

318. MissionCast – Southeast Churches Respond
Five southeast district congregations (Glen Allen UMC, Broadway UMC, St. Paul UMC, New McKendree UMC and LaCroix UMC) came together to meet a human need in their area. After staying indoors for two months following his second leg being amputated due to a debilitating disease (RSD) the congregations built him a wheel chair ramp for his trailer. Pastor Kim Mitchell called the district office to see what could be done to help. After they put her in touch with Rev. Charles Buck and they put their heads together things began to happen quickly.

316. The Building Destroyed, But Not the Church
The St. James United Methodist Church building was completely destroyed in the tornado that hit Joplin two years ago. After meeting in several different places since the tornado they are now back worshiping on their property. Rev. Thomas Freeman, quite rightly said, “we lost the building but not the churchâ€. The Church is back and in a new church building that is as up-to-date as they get. Rev. Freeman gave us a tour for this MissionCast and what we saw was very impressive and inspiring.
