(Click the Picture) The 2011 Missouri Annual Conference met in Springfield, Missouri, June 3-6.  This eight minute extended length MissionCast brings some of the highlights of the conference.  We are also posting a 4 minute version.  Our regular MissionCasts are between 2 to 3 minutes and we will return to that length next week.

220. Bishop Visits Joplin – Total Destruction for miles

Bishop Schnase met with pastors in Joplin on Thursday.  He visited St. Paul’s United Methodist Church that lost its worship center, St. James United Methodist Church that was totally destroyed and the District Office that is beyond repair.  It is staggering to see miles of total destruction.  Information about how to respond and offer help to survivors and congregations go to http://umocm.com.  You may also call the office at 573-474-7155.

219. MissionCast – Baby Grace Ministry – Buckner UMC

Baby Grace Ministry was born at the Buckner United Methodist Church in response to the needs of young mothers of their community.  Through the ministry young parents receive parenting education as well as diapers, clothing, bedding, toys and books all donated by contributing members of the community.  Everything they received is bundled up with a lot of spiritual blessings and a great deal of love.  For more information go to www.bucknerumc.com.  To support the ministry send contributions to the Missouri United Methodist Conference Office, 3601 Amron Court, Columbia, MO  65202.  Baby Grace is a Conference Advance Special and is listed on the form sent to all church treasurers every month.

218. MissionCast – Rabbits for Guatemala – Festival of Sharing Project

Each year the Festival of Sharing Coordinating Committee selects two Heifer International projects to promote.  “Rabbits for Guatemala” is the international project chosen for the 2011 Festival of Sharing.  In this MissionCast, Office of Creative Ministries staff member, Carol Oliver tells about this project.  Carol who serves as the Missouri representative for Heifer International traveled to Guatemala last year and saw first hand the need for this projects and the difference it is making in the lives of the people.  We invite you to watch this MissionCast and then find a way for your congregation to raise the funds for at least two trios of rabbits ($120) for Guatemala.  If you have any questions you may call Carol at the Office of Creative Ministries at 573-474-7155 or email at oliver@umocm.com.

217. MissionCast – Cutting Edge Medicine & Research – Ludhiana Christian Medical College and Hospital

Recently a group of Missouri Conference Mission Ambassadors traveled to Ludhiana, India, where they visited the Ludhiana Christian Medical College.  In this MissionCast Audrey Phelps tells about some of the cutting edge medicine and research taking place there.  Also see MissionCasts telling about other parts of the ministry they observed like the community health program where medical and nursing students take the ministry to the rural and urban poor.  Go to www.MOMissionCast.com and search for “Ludhiana.”
