350. MissionCast – WOW 2014 – Missouri Conference

HaitiWOW is an annual statewide United Methodist youth ministry gathering held at the convention center in Springfield, Missouri.

We like what Rev. Sharon Kichline wrote about WOW in the Webster Groves, First United Methodist’s newsletter:
It values the faith journey of our young people. It offers them a taste of a form of worship that they are not likely to experience in their own home church. It gives them permission to be noisy, hopping up and down, and singing at the top of their lungs about a God who loves them like crazy. They leave not only with great memories, but also with the power of the Holy Spirit still vibrating within them.

We are grateful to Holly Davis on our conference staff for providing us with these video highlight of WOW 2014.

349. MissionCast – A Woodcut For Health Care

Haiti

What does a woodcut just north of Columbia, Missouri, have to do with the education of doctors and nurses and the healing of patients on the other side of the world. Well, a great deal actually. Rev. Cleo Kottwitiz from Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia organized a woodcut with volunteers and donated trees and equipment as a fund raiser for the Ludhiana Christian Medical College in northwest India. We want to thank Cleo and others who are helping to support this important ministry on the other side of the globe. For Information about a mission tour to Ludhiana, India go to www.folus.org.

348. Dr. King’s Birthday Celebration – St. Luke UMC

Haiti

To celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday we have added gospel music and remastered one of the Best of MissionCasts. The MissionCast highlights the annual poor people’s breakfast offered to in the Columbia Community on Dr. King’s birthday. This Best of MissionCast is also offered as a tribute to Council Woman Almeta Clayton, a tireless worker for justice, who passed away this past year. If your congregation honors Dr. King’s birthday by reaching out to the community each year let us know about it so we can highlight your event in MissionCast next year. Those attending Annual Conference will have met the Parnells at their display booth.
We are grateful to Fred Koenig for providing the video interview and pictures for this MissionCast. We also thank Marla for her pictures and help.
